Professional Experience
While attending her undergraduate studies, Tara began working on a small organic fruit and vegetable farm in Vermont, learning the challenges and rewards of farming in New England.
During her junior year, she participated in an intensive ecology field study program through UC Santa Cruz, and quickly fell in love with the California landscape. After continuing to get her hands dirty in New England, doing landscape maintenance and small design projects, the pull to move west eventually took hold.
After living in Berkeley for a few years, Tara made the move to Santa Barbara and joined IGA, Inc. in 2006.
Activities
Tara spends much of her time concocting new ways to increase food production in her tiny backyard on the West Side. When she’s not pouring over heirloom seed catalogues, she loves to travel, run along Santa Barbara’s beautiful coastline, cook with home-grown veggies and work alongside her husband and dog making some fun wines in Santa Ynez.
